- Gas Maintenance Technician

Description:
This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing gas pipelines. Work includes responding to emergency gas leaks, locating underground pipes, installing and repairing gas lines, performing routine inspections, maintaining valves and pipes, inspecting vehicles, and completing Operational Qualification (OQ) testing. This role is considered Essential Personnel and may require work during emergencies, hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to work orders for gas leaks or shutdowns to ensure public safety.
Repair gas lines in compliance with Operations and Maintenance Procedures.
Locate underground utilities in designated service areas.
Complete and pass all required Operator Qualification tasks.
Requirements
Minimum Training and Experience:
High School diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training.
One year of related experience.
Equivalent combinations of training and experience may be considered.
Licensing and Certifications:
None required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Drivers License; ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 6 months.
Experience installing or repairing gas lines (residential or commercial).
One or more years of plumbing or pipefitting experience.
Experience breaking or cutting asphalt, concrete, or earth for pipeline systems.
Familiarity with filling holes, reading Gas/GIS maps, and Miss Utility of Virginia.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of pipeline service line replacement/repair, safety compliance, shutdown valves, Hazmat/PPE, gas line purging, corrosion monitoring, gas meters, and GIS maps.
Skills in pipeline locating, leak inspection, operating heavy machinery and tools, plumbing, and welding.
Ability to follow SOPs, manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and follow safety regulations.
