Summary/Objective:
Responsible for managing and developing companywide structural steel fabrication coatings and design at a large commercial and industrial contractor. Trades and services include engineering and design for structural steel, blast, paint, manufacturing, and modular assembly.
Essential Functions:
Optimize design of structural elements to maximize shop throughout
Improve shop efficiency
Material procurement
Effectively manage and grow team
Training and development
Scheduling
Meet project deliveries
Meet project budgets
Support estimating and preconstruction
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 10+ years of relevant experience in structural design and manufacturing.
Advanced knowledge of the building construction processes, and the various building components involved at each stage of construction
Advanced understanding of trade detailing, design workflows and practices.
Experience in managing problem focused solution-implementation from pilot through company-wide adoption as applied toward construction technologies.
Understanding of Tekla, Pronest, Solidworks, Cadworx, Plant 3D (or comparable software) is a plus.
Possess the ability and willingness to learn and grow in a team environment.
Must possess creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
Excellent documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history).
Must adhere to all company policy and procedures.
Must be available to work assigned schedules and extended hours as needed.
The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:
Work Environment:
Works in a professional office and shop environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
Position will require occasional visits to construction sites.
May be exposed to varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness when visiting projects.
May be exposed to moderate/high noise levels when in work areas when visiting projects.
May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust in work areas.
Physical Demands:
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Be able to sit for long periods of time while working on a computer.
- While troubleshooting CNC automated software for equipment, this role may be standing/walking for long periods and may on occasion use small hand tools.
- Frequently is required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, use tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Travel:
- May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight)
Preferred:
- Prior military experience
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or similar field with emphasis on technology
