Corrosion Control Technician II: $43.52 – $58.53/hr ($90,524 – $121,744 annually)
The San Diego County Water Authority is seeking a Corrosion Control Technician I/II to support our Asset Management Division. This role is key in protecting critical water infrastructure through the installation, testing, inspection, and repair of cathodic protection systems and related corrosion control equipment.
What You’ll Do:
Inspect, maintain, and repair cathodic protection systems
Perform field surveys, testing, and troubleshooting
Collect and analyze corrosion data using digital tools
Support coating inspections and pipeline condition assessments
Work in both field and industrial settings, including confined spaces
The Ideal Candidate:
Has knowledge of chemistry, electricity, and corrosion science
Is mechanically inclined and comfortable using tools in outdoor environments
Pays strong attention to detail and safety
Communicates well and thrives in a team setting
Is eager to learn and grow in the water utility industry
Work Schedule: 4/10 workweek (Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Requirements
High school diploma (college coursework in engineering, chemistry, or corrosion-related fields preferred)
For Technician II: 2+ years corrosion control experience
Ability to obtain AMPP/NACE CP Tester certification within 24 months
Valid California driver’s license
